Maybe a batman 6694 re-issue 😉?

Your posts got me obsessed with that model and I continue to look for a good well-loved example (over the years my philosophy has changed as I found that I am pulled to older rather than newer releases).
Unfortunately, I doubt VC’s management and trajectory would consider this approach or re-visit the CR line with a view to reviving some of the greatest historical hits as their focus seems to cater to more ‘modern’ trends and their cabinotoirs options are very limiting unless you want to really put in significant capital. Of course they are a business and our tastes (mine at least) are definitely not reflective of the wider watch buying or influencer market. Not to say there is anything wrong with what they are doing as catering to trends allows for amazing pieces in the metiers collection, the CdV (I think its an outlier that surprised them with how popular it became), or the (pricy but) awesome twin beat. That said, I hope I am absolutely wrong and that they introduce something outstanding in the CR line without making it obscenely pricier than it should be.
The THL was a great place and you hit the nail on the head re why it was so special. Fortunately we have this forum and other avenues that allow us all to focus on the passion, challenge each other, and look beyond the hype!
Hope you continue to be well and safe my friend.
Kind regards,
Walid

CHRONOMÈTRE ROYAL; Caramba! A Tale of Two Watches This story is the latest in a series on the rich history of Brasil’s purchase clubs for Vacheron & Constantin watches circa 1900. This edition addresses an interesting subset of the subscription watche...

THL was a very special 10 years. Much more than "look what I have", we pushed each other to greater efforts to inform and entertain. I hope this was up to standards! The subscription purchase idea is sound IMHO and, properly managed as was done by Gondolo...

That is some serious bling! But my heart goes to the first in wg. Such an understated beauty! Thanks for sharing these wonderful pics!

Tick Talk, my friend, a huge thank you for such a qualitative post. I am fascinated by these Chronometres Royaux. With a huge attraction for the Nautical.

And a fine new instalment too. Storytelling like this invigorates the lived heritage of watches outside of the orbit of brand-driven narratives. I appreciate the telescopic and microscopic approach that zooms out to broader contextual elements, and then z...

The cartoon 'Ruy in the Hague' is an ironic take on a portrait by the French artist Jean-Baptiste Debret of the coronation of Imperador Pedro I in 1822. That image became a much-used leitmotif in periodicals throughout the century. We have Debret to thank...

I did peek into that doorway during my research but one can spin off topic so easily. I was surprised to learn the last King and his regent daughter were slavery abolitionists; a stance which brought together a military and conservative alliance to bring ...

Thank you very much, Tick Talk, for the efforts you put into this article. Great insights, and a reminder that the glitzy world of luxury has a darker side too. Still as valid today as at the time of Sr. da Silva. Best, Daniel

Glad you enjoyed this :-)
