Here's a disappointing experience with VC boutique in Vancouver

Sep 09, 2023,19:35 PM

After 6 months, I collected my 56 Day-Date after a routine complete service. That was really annoying. Apparently, the Canadian workshop was shorthanded, and the watch ended up in the USA service center.

The cost was above average, but I didn't mind. What really cheesed me off was the casual attitude and ignorance of the staff. The watch came in a plastic baggie. The guy didn't check the timing or wind the watch. I did that.

Then, I had to ask for a case for the watch, because he handed it to me in the plastic baggie. I suppose this is typical of the watch industry these days. However, this was not what I had expected of Vacheron Constantin.

Caveat Emptor.

and watches will no longer fly from the shelves effortlessly.

Was it at least a ziplock?

I would have insisted upon a ziplock...

The service I have had from the London boutique has been top notch and when I called into the Zurich boutique to have a look around everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I seem to get a feedback questionnaire to complete every time I have visited the J...

Certainly

I will certainly give my honest feedback to VC HQ. This experience compares poorly to others. Didn't get any snide questions about where I bought the watch, at Patek. A proper case from Swatch/Brequet and Bulgari; not neoprene. Superb service from the ind...

I wish I hadn’t mentioned Richemont/JLC!

More seriously, I hope VC act on the feedback you provide. If they have any sense they will do. All the best, Jon

Bad experiences

When you be treaded like a nono, it lays at the shop employers have no watch passion. Maybe they have good education, they do not like watches. My experiences are mixed. I had wonderful moments when buying a watch, and also disappointing situations. Somet...

Sorry to hear that but not surprised.

Back about ten years ago when I was a huge VC fan and owned four of them, I had nothing but sad experiences when it came to service(US boutique/service center), in one case my complete calendar chicolatone, vas in the boutique safe for six months without ...

That was a wonderful collections of VC’s!

Your story just goes to show how a brand can loose custom very quickly if it provides poor service. All the best, Jon

Thank you Jon, sadly the same with other Richemont brands, and Omega is not better(they lost my watch), so that’s the reason why I’m a die hard Rolex fan.

Everyone’s mileage may vary, but I can only speak for myself… Enjoy your weekend!🥂

You might know the story of Montblanc returning my LE watch loose in a cardboard box.

Yup. You can search the ordeal if you want. I was reminded of it recently as I saw one of the other 99 pieces in the edition. Honestly I don't even recall the name of the watch... the blue dial stainless steel with Minerva 16.29 movement. 0 confidence in ...

Be happy, that you don't...

...have to sell your home for funding the service cost. I made similar experiences at boutiques from other Richemont brands. But unfortunately you can't change this situation. Enjoy your "new" watch and wear it in good health. Next time when you get weak ...

Sad to hear!

I am assuming it wasnt Vincent you dealt with? You should inform him about this experience. Sad to hear about this mate!

Thanks. Not Vincent.

I have no experience of Vacheron Constantin as a buyer,

But I have not been much excited with their dealing with vintage collectors.
