First impressions: the Twin Beat

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-02:35
Dear friends, I am happy to post some initial impressions after a weekend with the Traditionelle Twin Beat Perpetual on the wrist. So where do I begin? My overall impression: What strikes me most is the aura this watch exudes. I bought the Twin Beat for i...

Wow wow wow wow!!! Speechless

 By: Horology75 : May 19th, 2020-02:54
Will read the post however beautiful shots . Congratulations on this great purchase !

Sharp eyes!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:17
The calendar was set correctly initially, but we played around with the pushers in the boutique and didn't care about the leap year. I will set it to Year 4 next time I put it on. Thanks, Pun!

No words needed here!!!

 By: mywrongwrist : May 19th, 2020-03:18
This piece is out of this world!!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ Congrats is not enough... only one question, looking at your wrist pics, it seems to me holes in the lugs to be too close to the case, leaving lugs coming out too much when youโ€™re wearing this marvel... is only my im...

Grazie mille, Luca!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:21
I needed to look up the pics to see what you mean regarding the lugs, but now I understand. I think you're right, it looks as if the strap connects to the lugs a little too near the case. Maybe a combination between my small wrists (16.5 cm) and the still...

Grazie a te!!! And again donโ€™t take my comment in a nasty way...

 By: mywrongwrist : May 19th, 2020-05:20
I was only curious... I love your new addition!!! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ so cool, as I wrote Iโ€™d trade in all my collection... no more words needed Thanks for taking into account my post Wear it in the best of safeness, healthiness and happiness!!! Ciao, un abbraccio Luc...

I'm literally stunned by this fine piece of watchmaking.

 By: George Gently : May 19th, 2020-03:21
What a tremendous intelligent and high tech watch. Really do like, you are wearing it in your daily routine. No safe queen here. Thank you very much for showing, Daniel. Kind regards, George

No safe queens for me.

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:23
This beauty is meant to be enjoyed. The more, the better Glad you like it, George. And yes, "intelligent" describes it very well! Cheers, Daniel

Very impressive and highly innovative watch imo

 By: Watchonthewrists : May 19th, 2020-03:24
Huge Congrats with you very beautiful VC . I only had the pleasure to see it behind glass at SIHH last year . Thanks for this post and looking forward to see more in the near future

Happy you like it, Watchonthewrist.

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:27
I could see the first "live" watch in the metal for a few minutes early 2019 when I visited the manufacture in Geneva. Then, it was mostly a fascination of the technical aspects - the innovative movement, the calendar mechanism etc. Now that I had it on m...

Thank you for the review.

 By: Bounce781 : May 19th, 2020-04:00
This is a true masterpiece of modern horology. Heartiest Congratulations. Astounding piece!

Thank you for the kind words!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:29
It is at the same time a fine piece of art, and a cool modern watch. Happy you liked the post.

Huge congratulations on this one! An unbelievably stunning piece!

 By: jack johnson : May 19th, 2020-04:20
Please wear in the best of health and post new pictures of this beauty from time to time.

What an incredible watch..

 By: W72 : May 19th, 2020-04:32
the technicality is certainly something to marvel at... Given the complicated movement, it is surprising that the case is not unduly big and looks perfect on your wrist. Great piece of watch technology and will be a talking piece at any GTG for sure. /W72...

Thank you, W72

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:43
Didn't have the chance yet to be on a GTG, but I would certainly bring the Twin Beat.

Thanks, Reuven!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:49
I completely agree with you.

Thank you, janef ๐Ÿ™ [nt]

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:44
This one's cool AND intelligent at the same time! I am in love... Best, Daniel

Wow! Iโ€˜m happy you have the same strong emotions as I for this exceptional piece.

 By: mrds : May 21st, 2020-12:47
This is not a limited edition or special order watch, it is part of VCโ€˜s regular collection. It is however a very small scale production. I have heard of 8 pieces per year, although this is not official and may not be accurate info. As far as I know, the ...

Daniel, itโ€™s stunning

 By: Jurry : May 19th, 2020-04:46
You know Iโ€™m one of the biggest VC fans on earth and this twinbeat is superb. I tend to agree that the dial is controversial to say the least. Itโ€™s about the only thing that held me back when I got the invite to buy it. You mentioned the case is whatโ€™s st...

Thank you for the kind words, my friend!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-04:57
I am in full agreement with you. The dial, you love it or you hate it. For me it works brilliantly, showing the fresh and innovative side of VC. Kind of the De Bethune in VC's collection, if you don't mind. But I also love the classic, elegant side of VC ...

Thanks Daniel

 By: Jurry : May 19th, 2020-05:45
Who knows there will one day where they will stick this new technology in a classic model like the PCC.

Congrats! Incredible watch!

 By: DarrenKats : May 19th, 2020-04:47
I got to see this in the metal at Watches and Wonders Miami last year. One of the stars of the show for me! Wear it in good health!

gorgeous at max [nt]

 By: Gelato Monster : May 19th, 2020-04:57

Yes. It has all that VC stands for.

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-05:53
My impression is that VC really has been upping their game in the past few years. I hope the surprises will keep on coming... Thanks, Alex, for your kind words.

Thank you for this wrist review

 By: respo : May 19th, 2020-05:34
I have been hoping to read a review of the twin Beat such as this for some time. First, the Twin Beat looks great on your wrist. As you said, it is the technical aspects of the watch that draws the initial focus, but the Twin Beat is a very handsome looki...

Thank you very much, respo, for your comments!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-06:01
Glad you liked the review! Actually your wait for it couldn't be much shorter. The guess of the boutique is that this is No 4 or 5 of the Twin Beat production run (there is no official statement on this though). I agree with all of your comments. The NAC ...

Thank you FabR for the appreciation!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-06:03
Still waiting for my first Patek to arrive... Maybe 2020 will be a stellar watch year for me In any case, the Twin Beat will be a very regular companion on my wrist, it is so addictive!

Congrats!

 By: K-Lo : May 19th, 2020-06:15
End game piece right there!

Fully agree.

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-09:55
It will be interesting to see on what other watches VC will introduce the "standby mode" concept. Let's hope for a revival of many great manual-wound watches

+++1! [nt]

Triumph

 By: TeutonicCarFan : May 19th, 2020-07:21
Everything has been said. A technical masterpiece, and beautiful on the wrist. Enjoy!

Truly amazing!

 By: Overwound : May 19th, 2020-07:43
The 1.2Hz resting mode is a perfect compliment to a perpetual calendar. Not to mention the modern beauty of the watch itself. Congrats!

This VC is spectacular indeed

 By: VinnieD : May 19th, 2020-07:56
This combination of classic complication (perp. calendar) and innovative power reserve management makes it a stunner. Very smart, congrats

Fantastic concept...surprised nobody had pulled it off before...a couple of minor concerns...

 By: mdg : May 19th, 2020-08:09
...no day of the week on a perpetual? Seems odd. Also not a fan of the VC logo printed underneath the crystal as it blocks the hands as they rotate underneath. On the really good side, great bridge layout...very interesting : )

The missing Day of the Week doesn't bother me

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-10:46
As this is normally the part of the calendar I reliably manage to remember Of course the month and leap year I also know, but this is needed to correctly set the calendar on the watch. So I prefer to have a missing Day indicator over a too-cluttered dial,...

My pleasure, Sir!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-10:09
More will follow for sure.

Congratulations on a superb piece.

 By: andyhud : May 19th, 2020-08:37
This is what VC does best, IMO. Absolutely top notch all around - the concept, the finishing, the layout, the indicators are all flawless. It is a mechanical marvel for sure. Enjoy your love affair with this beauty! AH

Thanks for the kind words, Andy.

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-10:47
I'm with you all the way...

This is the definition of heavy metal.

 By: Uncle Chico : May 19th, 2020-09:57
Just wow.

Nicely put

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-10:08
As opposed to Trash Metal, I suppose ๐Ÿ˜„

Great Review!

 By: patrick_y : May 19th, 2020-10:12
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I have to read it again to catch all the finer details!

Looking forward to hearing your take on this watch, Patrick!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-10:48
The fine details are what drives us. So your comments are highly appreciated.

I was very impressed when I saw it last year at SIHH 2019!

 By: patrick_y : May 19th, 2020-11:55
I was so impressed when I saw it last year. It's certainly an extremely difficult watch to make, the rarity and the intrinsic value is going to be very very high. The instantaneous perpetual calendar is nice (and oh so difficult to make, as you need so ma...

The motivation for the dual balance system...

 By: mrds : May 20th, 2020-00:38
in my view is to avoid the trouble of resetting the calendar after the watch ran out of power. So they need a long power reserve in a manual watch to avoid this. I don't think it is accuracy driven, although this system allows for a 5 Hz "active" balance ...

My pleasure Daniel! Thank you for sharing with us your cool watch!

 By: patrick_y : May 20th, 2020-13:20
It's definitely a very special timepiece and not one often seen! I agree, the primary reason is to make sure the perpetual calendar doesn't need to be reset if the watch has stopped. A super cool watch, and this one requires a very special individual to a...

Outstanding! Big congrats!

By: COUNT DE MONET : May 19th, 2020-10:16
Love the dial, love the case. A clever watch for a smart watchlover ๐ŸŽฉ

I am humbled, Count!

 By: mrds : May 19th, 2020-10:49
I'll share more of it in the coming weeks and months...

Its a winner

 By: Weems@8 : May 19th, 2020-10:19
Your VC is the best watch ever. This would not my last reply on that greatest Twin beat. What is perfect? All! VC wins from all other watch brands. Itโ€™s the oldest and stil the best.

Thank you Weems! I'm not sure that a "best watch ever" exists at all...

 By: mrds : May 20th, 2020-00:41
but if it does, the Twin Beat comes very close in my subjective view. At once innovative, with a bold and distinctive design, excuisite materials & finishing, it ticks all the right boxes for me. Thanks for your appreciation! Daniel

Superb!

 By: jmpTT : May 19th, 2020-11:18
This is the type of watchmaking that I like to read about. Congratulations, it's a very special watch. It's not just conceptually daring, but aesthetically daring and very wearable. Successful on all fronts. It is a very useful technical solution to a com...

Amazing!!!

 By: John : May 19th, 2020-13:31
Thanks for sharing it.

Huge Congrats!!!

 By: serg70 : May 19th, 2020-13:56
Most amazing watch from last year! Stunning combo of design and technical perfection Watch to die for )) WBR Serge

I think it really divides people on the design.

 By: mrds : May 20th, 2020-00:50
To some, it is very beautiful in its own distinctive, avant-garde way. To others, it ventures too far from the more quiet aesthetics that VC is renowned for. I am very happy that you, like me, belong to the first camp. Glad you like it Where there's no de...

Congratulations!

 By: jleno : May 19th, 2020-15:36
I'm a big fan of this one! A very interesting complication, and I love the gold-on-grey look of the movement!

Yes, the NAC treatment is gorgeous!

 By: mrds : May 20th, 2020-00:50
Nice to see it pop up in other, more approachable models too! Thanks, jleno!

I do enjoy :-)

 By: mrds : May 20th, 2020-00:51
Thanks for the kind words, woodman!

That deserve many many Cheers and Congratulations....

 By: Clueless_Collector : May 19th, 2020-18:34
Never thought a traditional perpetual calendar can have such a modern twist of 2 speeds and 65 days PR is mind boggling.

If I was being nasty...

 By: mrds : May 20th, 2020-00:53
I'd say that's because of your nickname Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated! Cheers, Daniel

Thank you very much, Mo!

 By: mrds : May 24th, 2020-22:51
Itโ€˜s a real joy to admire and pleasure to wear. Have a great day! Daniel
