38mm case=yes steel case=practical=yes price=just case material change of an existing watch - i'm not sure it is right priced ! (usual way from VC) - better to save a bit more & land into a 1815 chrono...IMHO but then, the same watch @ 36 pcs LE for 'H' w...

Great move by VC. It’s even more beautiful than the photo suggests. The chrono hands are blue and the numerals on the seconds track are red. Very appealing indeed. I sincerely hope that the design and marketing people at VC have woken up. This great and h...

Congratulations VC on making this one, it looks marvelous in steel. Now... can we have PPro version in steel as well...? Black gloss dial, steel case, and no Roman numerals.... please! Yes please sign me up!
Unlikely, Nicolas

I love the CdV. But there have been and continue to be other VC priorities for me. And the trouble is the best version is the Hodinkee gray dial with pulsation scale, or would be sans the Hodinkee engraving. ;-)
Very nice

. But it’s overpriced IMHO. For that price, I’d do with an 1815 chrono from Lange, for the precious metal and for the truly-in-house and much-prettier movement. But that’s just my take. This watch will, undoubtedly, sell like hot cakes

Lange is $51,500 and this is $39,800 - that is a big price difference. If you mean "I would prefer a Lange 1815 second hand used" - well then we have to compare to what this goes for used as well. We are in an era where, for watches like this, steel is th...

I agree, and I was in this position over the last few months. But I just now have my heart on CDV pink gold 1. Yah.. if same price, I agree ALS is more attractive ie true in house movement. But CDV for me , since I already have an ALS in my collection (bu...

I have a split view on this one.
By: jlux : September 4th, 2019-23:10
First, I like the watch a lot .One of the nicest chronographs on the market. But I do have (and always had) a problem with the price positioning of the watch. For just a bit more you can have precious metal chronographs like the JLC Duometre,ALS 1815 and,...

I hear your point on price level(s) and you could be right. On the other hand, let’s face it, a brand which proudly announced a new entry level model at “only $10,000” will by 95% of the population never be considered a bargain. From a marketing perspecti...
The Cornes de Vache is a killer in all versions!
By: mrds : September 5th, 2019-11:41
I really do like the new steel piece with the red tachy scale and calf strap. Some may say VC could have been a little more bold than this and give it more of its own identity vs. the Pt version, others will say why change such a perfect piece too much? I...
I love the Vacheron CDV. I feel the pt, rg and steel versions, but
By: emcquillan : September 5th, 2019-22:39
when I look at comparable I feel they are all priced about 15-20% more than they should be. This steel version is very tempting to me, but perhaps a well kept pre-owner platinum version would offer better value for me. I almost always prefer to buy new fo...

I wonder about your statements about the latest arrival. Some seem to think a steel version should be limited to 36 pcs.? Even if VC would limited the production to such an extreme point - do you really think they should dedicate this to HD - for me that'...

SS in limited production is something I don’t see happening nor can I understand the benefit of it. Entry models must have higher volumes, the accumulated profit on higher volume but more standard pieces, funds development of higher end complicated models...

Marketing
By: Jurry : September 19th, 2019-10:13
Marketing wise a great addition and it looks stunning. I just have one small drawback; I can’t get rid of the feeling that introducing the SS version, does “eat” a bit of the exclusivity the owners of the gold and platinum version had. I’ve got no idea if...
I don't think so - it will not have a canibalisation effect
By: anon438 : September 19th, 2019-10:59
Hi Jurry, I'm mostly for the coloured metal - as you maybe know. In my opinion the yellow and pink gold style is a completely different story than the white gold / platinum / steel. Yellow / pink / white: It should fit the setting or occasion, the combina...

Hi, I’m indeed not surprised you favor the colored gold versions haha. And I’m halfway with you as I like rose gold a lot, but I also like platinum very much. I try to match the model of the watch to the occasion but typically select rose gold or platinum...
That is a perfectly harmonious choice
By: anon438 : September 23rd, 2019-03:06
The Platinum would be my best choice, if we talk about late 1920's when the paltinum became more usual or let's say when it became 'fashionable'. Your Amercan is amazing and style-wise rooted in that 20's period. The steel is my best choice for leisure wi...
