Annals of Vacheron & Constantin: 1914 to 1938 - Episode 4

This episode reveals other instances of V&C "courting" European royalty, including a school friend of Charles Constantin who became King of Serbia.  Continuing on the subject of royalty, it surprised me greatly that so little mention was made of the fabulous King Fouad watch but, in reality, these annals are more a record of economic than horological events and the Great Depression was taking its toll.

Mention is made of the Jules Weiss Foundation.  Since 1929, this social welfare fund, under the control of Vacheron & Constantin, became very important in supporting V&C employees facing, as we say today, food insecurity and other challenges.  It continued into the 21st century, granting scholarships to watchmakers-in-training.  Unfortunately, the Foundation was liquidated in 2021.
