Some years ago my friend Alec loaned me his VC 222 for a few weeks. The offer included my opening it up and making sure everything was clean and operational. I ran across the pictures today and thought they would be worth sharing. If you haven't seen a "front-loading" movement and case, please read on...
Two-tone gold and stainless watches are a bit out of fashion now, but I like this look a lot -- enough to own several similar two-tone watches.
Here's the VC ready for surgery.
First step - gently ease the crown/outer stem from the watch, prying with a tweezers.
Front-loaders have to have a split stem as you can't get in to release a conventional stem.
Remove the front bezel
Lift out the movement.
Clean the case, replace the o-ring if you can, and replace the movement.
Very simple if you have the tools and confidence, but I wouldn't suggest you try it on your kitchen table.
