Yes and No

Hi Bill.

I agree with you on wanting to see more of the spectacular guillochage, but I am not sure if the Patrimony would be the right line for it.

I think one of the characteristics of the Patrimony line is the simple, unadorned dial.  This is especially true for the Contemporaine.  On second thought, however, the Traditionelle might offer some possibilities.

Then again, rules were always made to be broken...

Best regards,
Kazumi

Vacheron Constantin has been doing very exciting, innovative guilloche work recently in their Metiers d'Art collection, especially with the "Fish" dial inspired by M.C. Escher in the new Univers Infinis collection: And back in 2005 with the 250th Annivers...

Good suggestion, Bill

Maybe you will find an opportunity to deliver this suggestion to the powers that be very soon. ;-) Funny that you posted a photo of the Fish Metiers d'Art to start the thread. For some unknown reason, that watch has suddenly been on my mind very recently....

The Fish is my favorite out of the 3 new ones that came out this year as well!

It really is beautiful AND is a watch that I can actually see myself wearing. It goes great with a Navy or Grey suit! (picture courtesy of VC and THL) (picture courtesy of VC and THL) If you didn't already know, I shouldn't be telling/tempting you like th...

Well, Dan, I saw one today in fact

It is a gorgeous watch, indeed. It is good of VC to offer them for sale individually, but even the price of one of these is beyond my means. I agree with you in that I could see wearing the Fish myself. But I will have to do so in my dreams. Best, respo

It was good to see you today, respo....

as well as the set of three Univers Infinis watches side by side. Seeing them again confirmed for me that the Fish is still my favorite of the three. It would be a tough call between the Fish and one of those Chagall pieces, however, as I am a fan of oper...

It was great seeing you, too, Bill...

...as always! Well, each Chagall is unique, so I think one of these would be my choice assuming I could afford the much higher price tag, which I can't. :-( But the Fish watch does seem more wearable to me. I did noticie that it is a bit difficult to read...

Good point about the Patrimony line

as both the Contemporaine and the Traditionnelle lines have distinct codes for the design of the dial, and it is hard to imagine a guilloche pattern being worked into either model. Still, it would be nice to see a round watch with a guilloche dial that do...
