Totally different beasts...

...to me. I only own two "nice" watches. The Blue SD and the Black reverse panda VC Overseas Chrono you see in the background of the picture. They are totally different things. The SD is very much announces itself between the WG bezel and dial. If you want it to be noticed, this is your watch...and this can be an undesirable thing at times too. I travel quite a lot so the annual calendar and second time zone function are super useful for me.

The VC (even in the relatively larger Choro) format flies very much under the radar. I"ve only been asked about it a few times...it's far more stealth. At the same time, the finishing and craftsmanship are levels above the Rolex. It is rewarding to just grab my loupe and study the movement...so much detail.

To answer your question directly, I don't "rank" them...they are totally different and, for me, serve two very different purposes. I enjoy each for what they are and what they represent to me. If you haven't handled either (or both) I strong suggest you do...it makes all the difference.

Finally, I don't worry about VC vs the others in the so-called holy trinity. I wanted a HH steel sports watch and found the Overseas to be the best fit for me.

Had a nice Saturday to enjoy watch shopping in Zurich. Unlike what I’ve seen in the US, the blue dial overseas models seem to readily available at the VC boutique there. I had a nice visit with the staff and was appreciative of them cleaning my Gen 3 reve...

Of these 3, the time-date is still my favorite. The Tourbillon is certainly mesmerizing, but I prefer this complication in a classic precious-metal dress watch like the VC Traditionelle. Thanks for the great pics, Cerachrom! Daniel

Thanks for sharing. I have a question:

Since you had a Rolex SD next to the OS Line-up; how do you compare VC OS next to Rolex? The reason I ask is because the Rolex craze has intensified, and many collectors feel Rolex is King (along with PP and AP), and VC is 'nothing' in comparison. How wou...

I have tried the OS few times, and also the Rolex. I would very much like a luxury-steel sports watch for daily wear. The problem with Rolex is that now even the DJ is hard to get. Rolex is now about a "herd" mentality...and the behaviour of AD's leave a ...
