what will happen if Patek's 5170 was launched as 38mm, two tone watch with Bregeut numerals? Or, better still, a stainless steel version only. That will be impossible to beat and difficult to afford.

Which is why the 7150/250R is the best Patek chronograph is for me in decades. Not only is it 38mm and the movement fills up the case beautifully but the dial is near perfect. Take away the diamonds and the waiting list will be Nautilus long! ...

Patek has a winner in the 7150/250R. Remove the diamonds and it will sell like hot cakes in any metal. The case back is a block sapphire crystal and makes the movement look even better.

Legend as well?

I consider the first series Datograph a legend. It is a watch that I have had 3-4 times. I am not a fan of black dial but I still enjoy the watch very much. It is a great piece of probably the greatest modern chronograph ever produce by any manufacturer. ... 

I've always liked the Datograph and respected its incredible movement. From a movement perspective, nothing is better, except perhaps a Montblanc Villeret 16.29. The biggest problem with the Datograph has always been wearing it, which is why I never reall...

It has always been a very strong competitor in the past with Lange Datograph. At one point when i had both, I tend to wear the Dato everyday, simply because Dato jus look very well made when compared to 5070. Be it case wise or movement wise, it is that o... 

Even though I adore my 5070G if forced to choose between the 2 I would choose the VC without hesitation, of course this would have to exclude the monetary difference as that plays a factor since one could simply choose the 5070G and sell it to purchase fe...  

I have never tried the Malte Chronograph due to the size and yet I had 5070,..haha. I fell in love with the 5070 because it is just so damn popular, just like a Rolex Daytona. Once need to have it so it can rid it out of the system. That's the only reason... 

The CdV also sings to me in a way that no other currently-produced chronograph does. I'm sure there's maybe an exception or two that will come to mind just as I hit the 'insert' button, but the design elements and execution of the CdV are just about perfe...

you see in Chrono 24 are mostly by order. So, you can order one and they will see if they can get one for you in a few months, No guarantee. I ordered mine that way as I can't get any piece from an AD . I waited for 2-3 months and it came from VC boutique...

I well remember that many people were down on them on this forum just a very few years ago, like 2015 or so.

It was the American 1921 and the CDV that made me take a fresh look at VC. I think both watches are quite inspired.

When VC release the CDV platinum version and reviewed here, I was in awe. Then you have the Hodinkee version released, I was surprised by the metal choice but disappointed by the dial color. I was hoping for something interesting but , still, it is amazin... 

and I tell you why . 5070 and Dato are the legends and I think this CDV will join them too. Not because which is better, I like 5070 too and think it is deserving of being a legend. I just think this CDV qualify to join them, a worthy representative from ... 

Arabic numbers are just yummy. Not sure how one can reach out to VC to do a bespoke piece... I may consider :P

I don't think they will do that for CDV but they may create a new one based on their other heritage piece. It is very possible if it did exist in the past.

They are stronger, if possibly less frequent, with the VC - which thankfully lacks a scale for them!
