I love the current 4500v version.

But the proportions of the 2000v are better .

The only thing I would really like to see is
1) a little bit thinner, closer to the 2000v
2) let the end links at the bracelet come in more instead of flaring out so much.

That’s mainly for me though as my wrist is skinny and if the bracelet could pull in a little more I think a wider range of customers could pull it off.

All just my humble opinion

Is there anyone in VC who's willing to compete against RO and Nautilus?

I've just read the report , average price form VC is 20k. AP and PP nearly 35k (PP sells several quartz). They don't need to become a one model only maison, but at least they might celebrate the iconic 222 with a better one. The 2000 V was beautiful, it's...

that would be nice!

BIG +1 on the WG ultra thin 2000V. Been hunting for one for a couple of years now 👍

Wouldn't mind if VC comes out with a new and updated version of the 222 either, maybe with the caliber 2000V as well 😉🤔

Paid in watches, that is the best salary i ever heard. You right, the Overseas is better than the Nautilus. The RO is in many versions, some i like, some i do not like. A one model only maison, so they are afraid to come with more flavors. In cars, a DDR ...

I think VC needs to tone down the Maltese Cross motif, particularly in the bezel.

It's just too much, and does not make for a look that will stand the test of time. Viz. the first generation Overseas. IMO, that watch has not aged well. Also not a fan of the rounded tonneau-style case, or the between 4 and 5 o'clock date placement. The ...

I do agree, it's neither rounded nor tonneau

I think they've tried to design something different, but sometimes you just need to be simple and essential. After a whole life in the need of the window date, now I can't really stand it any longer

I agree. It becomes a bit kitsch after a while.

Especially with their lack of subtly.

Ah, but kitsch is in the eye of the beholder.

I remember when folks were making fun of the Nautilus white dial, comparing it with a white garage door with slats (even here). I like it though. All designs fall in and out of favor. Including the Nautilus (which was discontinued for a time before PP res...

I agree - of those three the VC is still may preferred choice...

But that doesn't mean it is perfect! Something having room for improvement doesn't mean it is bad; it is not a binary relationship.

😁

In times people adapt and refocus to its value retention

This is true.

 By: destrodan : March 10th, 2021-17:45
All fashion goes in cycles and value retention follows suit. There was a time not too long ago when no one wanted watches designed in the 1970s. They were tacky, until they were 'hot' again. Daytonas didn't sell well...then decades later they became 'hot'...

Nice photoshop image! I love the look of the Overseas without the date window.

I would be very tempted to buy a no-date blue dial in stainless steel. Better yet, give it a salmon dial and just take my money!

I love the current 4500v version.

A no date would be most welcome...

And even better would be to also have it made in titanium... like the one piece they made for a certain mountaineer not too long ago...

I'm not sure I agree that the average price of a VC is $20K...

I'd question your source on those figures.

www.watchprosite.com ...

Hmm... As much respect to LuxConsult, McKinsey, Gallup, Bain, and Morgan Stanley...

I still think the figure is wrong. Seems a little low. But my thoughts are just an opinion until I have some concrete data. Thanks again.

I agree with you, Patrick.

 By: destrodan : March 11th, 2021-12:48
Seems low to me too. Isn't 20K about where Vacherons start (other than maybe the fiftysix line)?

My thoughts parallel yours!

Who is buying all of these Longines?

 By: LS : March 14th, 2021-05:21
By this chart they are apparently twice as popular as Rolex (by volume). But, I don’t see that many out there.

Mine says hi
