 By: brandon1 : January 16th, 2017-07:22
Good morning all, and happy MLK day in the States and SIHH everywhere! I just wanted to share this striking similarity (sorry!) that I noticed this morning when I saw the VC was released. I've annotated 5 areas (A-E) below, but you get the idea. Positioni...

Well spotted. There are indeed some major similarities here...I would love to know more... Best E.

You get it first

I think Vacheron Is lying with the “Développé et manufacturé par Vacheron Constantin”. 10 year of development for only one piece. I think Greuble Forsey develop it for themselves and propose to other brands through “Complitime” sister company who develop ...

I suspect you're right

Your assumption is further supported by the fact that Vacheron is marketing this as a piece unique, while GF is marketing it in a series. Cheers, Brandon

Thanks for the info, Alex!

First day of SIHH, VC says "it's in house development". Then this post pops out and VC says "we made it together with Complitime". And know you're saying this kind of stuff ? Didn't your learned anything at all with this story ? CleguxM is absolutely righ...

One or two remarks to balance the issue you pointed out

By: Mark in Paris : January 25th, 2017-02:39
Thanks for bringing that up, I think it is good to discuss about such subjects as we know how this highly marketted sector works. Firstly, if you look at many movements, like chrongoraphs for instance (and Perpetual Calendars with the choice of cam in 12 ...

I think it all comes down to our individual expectations

 By: brandon1 : January 25th, 2017-08:38
Thanks Mark! I appreciate you sharing these thoughts, and I agree that it is natural to expect a certain degree of similarity among movements that do the same thing. Your point about chronographs and perpetual calendars is well taken. To develop this idea...

Great input Brandon

First, let me say that I wished to bring some elements to the discussion but didn't question your post I found totally relevant Your point on the rarer repeaters (whether they are GS or MR etc...) compared to PCs and Chronos is very true and that must hav...

Great point about collaboration = speed to market

 By: brandon1 : January 25th, 2017-10:30
Thanks for adding more to what is, at least for me, a very rewarding conversation. I think your sentiments are very well articulated, and I had not considered it in this way. If collaboration means we have innovations that otherwise we would not have, the...

Thanks Brandon :)

That's also how we can educate ourselves and widen our panorama! I'm also still trying to know what I think about Silicon. I think it will depend on how it will be used, if it is not a gimmick and if it is reliable. Less lubrication and less wear and tear...

Made in houses - plural

and not in shacks or a Shanty Town - from dubious materials and QC. That's OK with me. A little co-operation or collaboration can go a long way or - to use a fudgy term - mutual development. See the history of the silicone balance wheel with Rolex, PP, an...

Your views and opinions are always very valuable and educational.
