Although I own the standard version of the UN perpetual, I am still contemplating adding a Marine Perpetual for everyday use.

On my piece, too, the trick to halt the running second by means of backward pressure on the crown did not work until it returned from factory service. Since then, I can set the time more accurately. However, as has been pointed out, it might not be so important to do so.
