Ulysse Nardin Torpedo Tourbillon 175, from 2021.

Apr 09, 2022,09:04 AM

Shame on me, I didn't see this one coming. I saw it in a window display and had to make some search to find what it was...

The Torpedo Tourbillon was issued in a limited edition of 175 pieces to celebrate the 175 anniversary of the brand.

It is a 42 mm case ( good ), in rose gold ( well, it wold have been good to have the choice between rose gold and a white metal ) water resistant to 50 meters ( bad, as the Marine Tourbillon issued in 2017 is water resistant to 100 meters ), with conventional lugs ( good, as the tubular lugs of the Marine Tourbillon bugged me a bit ) and a great black enamel dial ( excellent ).

Here it is:

In white metal, with a black enamel dial and arabic numbers, it would have been irresistible...

Best,

Nicolas

It would be nice to have more options for the case… here’s a humble comparison with my Seiko which shares a similar colour scheme. The rose gold is no slouch though, also appealing. ...

…but the finishing on the tourbillon case really kills it for me. This is where you’re looking at on this watch, after all.

Always a complain is easy. Prefer white, also bleu is out of order …… for me for me. The standard lugs are a huuuuuuge step fore wards cause i bugged by special systems that needs special tools, certified people to get a new strap or strap change if desir...
