Whilst I appreciated the clever design, I didn’t really like the Freak when it first came out. The passage of time and exposure to images eroded that and I grew to really like them. When you see them in the flesh, things change very much for the positive. My favourites are the Blue Cruiser, obviously, followed by the original in white gold.
Interesting thing about my Annual Chronograph is that when it was serviced, UN replaced the dial and the hands and when I got it back, I noted that the dial was different from the original. The original was a very flat white whilst the replacement had a slight metallic speckle when viewed up close. I preferred the original slightly, although the new one has some charm and grew on me over time. I nearly traded mine in but, fortunately, the offer was too low and I declined. A lucky escape because I know I would have missed it afterwards like you did.

Monday handover UN style
By: MNG : May 5th, 2020-04:00
I decided to go Blue today to cheer me up on a dreary grey Monday. The BC is hard to capture, but it amazes me how dramatically different the dial can be at different angles and lighting. ...
Thank you for the comments

I felt unexpectedly a bit forlorn this morning, but the BC did the trick and lifted my mood straight away. Then the sun came out and so it was only appropriate to take her for a walk and a view of the sea. ...
This is the first Freak that has ever caught my eye...

That is to say, that I found pleasing, that I could imagine on my wrist. (Of course the Freak in any iteration catches one's eye!) Your first pic is especially beautiful. The flat nature of the blue surrounded by the gleaming gold… entrancing! (And those ...
Thank you, I take your point

The second photo is an extreme example taken directly under halogen lights. In our lavatory actually! It is diifficult to capture the way that light plays with the dial but, for the majority of the time, it looks like this. It’s still not quite there - I ...
Good to hear, thanks

They are only iPhone photos and I was trying to demonstrate the range of the dial from Matte to metallic. It is at it’s best in between the two when there is a lovely warmth as the light plays with the dial. Unfortunately, my phone cannot capture those su...
I love this Cruiser.

Preference for white gold, but every Freak is awesome!
Yes, that’s for sure.......

Nice shot of the blued hands there. A great weekend and casual watch for me. I like to run the Chronograph when I wear mine as I really like to see the big second hand movement. I’ve had mine 12 years without a hitch. Only needed one service two years ago...

Beer time
By: MNG : May 6th, 2020-10:22
I’m sat in the sun enjoying a cold beer before dinner. The Freak comes alive in the sun and almost appears to be laughing joyously. It’s hard to capture with a phone the way that the light plays with the dial, but how Blue is it now?? ...
Thank you

I’ll certainly take that as a compliment given your quality photo’s that I’ve seen on here. I have never taken pictures of my watches before until I found this forum. At first, I wondered ‘why do they keep taking photo’s of their watches’? Then I tried it...
Thanks for the encouragement both.....

I did buy myself a decent camera last year but I haven’t used it all that much. Why? Well, whilst the technicalities of photography do make sense to me, it is not that easy in practice and my head tends to go blank in the heat of the moment. I suspect tha...
