Sonata Strap help

Jul 13, 2020,08:59 AM

Hi all,

I hope that someone in the community who has changed the strap of a Sonata or Freak will be able to help.

I have recently acquired the Streamline. Fantastic piece but I want to get an aftermarket strap which can bend at the spring bar. However, despite many many attempts, I cannot remove the strap! I have a Bergeon style spring bar tool and I cannot seem to grip the shoulders of the spring bars at all!

If anyone has been successful, I would be most grateful for some hints! What size and shape pilers did you use?

I have attached some close-ups of the spring bar. I cannot see the shoulders on one side......

Many thanks,
Chi Kai

I am trying to avoid a trip to the AD is possible! The only strap that I have ever had to get an AD to change was for Breguet. In my photos, I can see the shoulder in the last one. But can’t really see it in the first two. Can you? Cheers, Chi Kai

That may be the case Nicolas. I will probably just head into town to an AD when my new strap arrives. BW, Chi Kai

I used my AP tool kit, the simple sprinbar removal tool. As I depress one side of the pin in, removing it from the watch case pin recess, I then pried the strap down and away. Meaning I sort of pulled / bent it away from where the curved part of the top s...
