I thought it looked strange without the engraving of the LE number.

Do you think it was a replacement caseback or from another model?

The engraved case back appears rather scratched in the photo. How that would happen when flat against a wrist is hard to imagine.

So we are zeroing in on the possibility of a photoshopped picture which removed the numbers. Thanks a lot.

I bought the later model 386-88 with the display back and multi-scale dial but I quite like the engraved (in relief) backs done by UN on a number of pieces at the time. Dave
