I just received these pictures of a Freak X Blue with its carbonium 42 mm case, for the retailer Bucherer. A very cool watch, but I am still disturbed as it is not a Freak, to me, since it has a crown, and I much prefer the manual winding movement of the ...  

It still amazes me how much the brand has evolved

This sportier version obviously needed at least 5 ATM of water resistance which, I guess, was harder to obtain on a crownless version. To me, this is as Freak(y) as the original and I like this new issue a lot.

I ask myself, do we harp on the name issue too much? And the answer is no. "Freak" is an icon for Ulysse Nardin. It is a massive part of the brand history, even if not yet 20 years old. So to name this new series Freak, I agree it is a poor choice. They c...
