Dear Marcus,

I started my adventure in Ulysse Nardin in January 1998 as product manager. I was in contact with Pierre Gygax end of 1997 to join the Rolf’dream Team. Perpetual Ludwig calendar was on the way to became the best perpetual watch in the market. I was proud to work on the design in closed collaboration with Raimondo Brenni to give the best look at this iconic master piece. The GMT additional fonction as been contribute to the worldwide success for it. During the ascension of this Watch about 1000 to 1100 pcs a year were produce all production with the same approach: Quality, simplicity , practical product and of course the price.

All of our Customer are the ambassador or this marvelous piece and with this real complete report I say you thanks

Regards,

Thanks Marcus for bringing this back here. Your thorough review with lots of information about a watch is the good tradition of PuristS. Very, very nice to see this here now. Kudos to you, and Ulysse Nardin. You just made me want one of these! Best, Ken

After this I’m off looking at UN perpetuals straight away. And for your other reviews from the past! Thanks for a great enrichment to Easter!

Superb then and now!

Ulysse Nardin makes the most user friendly perpetual calendar watch. The complication in general is one I admire in watchmaking, but I'm not sure I will ever own one. I don't have a need for calendar functions on a watch. But they sure are beautiful to lo...

All these years later, the UN/Oechslin perpetual calendar design is still arguably the best. Without having extensive time with one, I can’t suggest how it could be improved. Imagine you were in charge of updating the mechanism for its 25th anniversary, a...

And I really mean this. When I met Ludwig Oechslin for the first time, to start my work on the Trilogy book, he was still living in Lucerne. It was a wonderful visit, but I recall him stating that he was not really satisfied with the Perpetual GMT's desig...

This is superb! It was a fantastic knowledgeable review when it was first published, and has remained the best review of this piece ever since. A tour de force! Thank you for re-posting in its complete form.

Simple is a good word to describe setting this perpetual.

Makes for quick adjustment after sitting for a while. It does take a few days on the wrist to understand they layout then it becomes quite easy to glance down and read. Thanks for all the details, Marcus.

Thanks so much!

Recently I started to look at UN again. I sold my Sonata and Aqua perpetual a few years ago and am now feeling the regret. Perhaps it’s time to rejoin the club!
