What do others think of Vacheron Constantin as a brand..
Can't sleep again.. Not sure why.. Sudden have this thought when I think of a topic.. a rather serious one.. For example.. Omega.. Panerai.. Rolex.. Patek.. Most people do know or heard about them.. But what do strangers.. colleagues or your friends who isn't familiar with VC.. What do they think about this brand.. And is it very awkward when you are wearing a VC.. And someone question you about your watch and the brand itself.. Do you explain much to them.. Especially VC do make some nice watches.. Hmm..

No wg or platinum
I inquired at the boutique and all usa AD last fall for platinum. None available. So then asked for wg. None available. Was disappointed then got a laurent ferrier so not a bad outcome

Oh yes the triple calendars are very handsome too. The malte classique had two dials, the earlier models have more of a radial guilloche pattern while later ones had straight guilloche. I much prefer the earlier versions, I only wish the cal 1400 was bigg...

The older VCs do seems represent some good value in the pre-owned market.. compared to the price in the modern market across most High end brands including independents..

I recently asked my dad in law (who knows only rolex) - he simply said: vc? Not as known as rolex. In any case, VC imho slips under radar (apart from overseas) so people don’t even comment - which is why i love the brand.

I am tired of being stared at with rolex - even though i like the brand. With VC, somehow i feel that it’s for the owners to enjoy - not others.
My wife used to work for a brand that also got employee pricing on VC. To her it's basically like a Gucci watch for older less fashionable people 🤣
When I was checking out the then new 3rd gen OS a few years ago she told me not to buy it, she'd get a friend to get me one at an employee discount! Just a reminder most people have no idea what VC is let alone care if you are wearing one.

Which means I present a good example of the average (ignorant) consumer. I like them. They quietly produce some very nice watches, without all of the drama and noise surrounding Patek and AP.

At least you know some independent watchmakers.. Some people I spoke to don't even know a single independent by brand name.. And they like to say they know all high end watches for many years..
