USEFUL INFORMATION
* THE VIRUS IS NOT ALIVE; it is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the eyes, nose or mouth (ocular, nasal or buccal) mucosa, changes the genetic code of those cells and converts them into aggressor and multiplier cells.
* YOU CANNOT KILL IT. The virus is a protein molecule, it cannot be killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material upon which it lies.
* IT’S VERY FRAGILE; the only thing protecting it is ak thin outer layer of fat.
* FOAM from soap or detergent cuts the fat (you have to rub for 20 seconds to make a lot of foam). After dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.
* HEAT melts fat and makes more foam. Use water above 80° F for washing hands, clothes and everything else.
* ALCOHOL (or a mixture with alcohol over 65%) dissolves the external lipid layer of the virus.
* LISTERINE dissolves the fat layer because it is high enough in alcohol.
* BLEACH mixed with 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein; it breaks it down from the inside.
* HYDROGEN PEROXIDE dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it straight (3%) and it can hurt your skin.
* UV LIGHT breaks down the virus protein. For example, UV light is perfectto disinfect and reuse a mask.
* DEHUMIDIFIED, WARM, BRIGHT environments will degrade the virus more quickly.
* OPEN DOORS & WINDOWS - the more open or ventilated the space, the less virus will concentrate. The more confined the space, the more concentration of virus is possible.
* WASH HANDS before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. & when using the toilet.
* DRY & PUT LOTION ON HANDS after washing them. A thick layer of moisturizer will trap molecules remaining in the micro cracks of your skin.
* SHORT NAILS ensure the virus does not lodge there.
* HEALTHY SKIN CANNOT BE PENETRATED by the virus molecules.
VIRUS LIFETIME
* While the virus is on a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates in around:
- 3 hours (fabric and porous)
- 4 hours (copper and wood)
-24 hours (cardboard),
- 42 hours (steel) and
-72 hours (plastic).
WHAT DOESN'T WORK
* COLD ENCLOSED SPACES ARE BAD - molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars; moisture and darkness help them last longer.
* BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC DON’T WORK. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibiotics can’t kill what is not alive.
* VINEGAR IS NO GOOD because it does not break down the protective layer of fat.
* SPIRITS, OR VODKA USELESS - most normal beverages are 40% alcohol, and you need 65%.
* SHAKING OUT THE BEDDING IS BAD! - If you shake a contaminated item or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose or eyes.
