TimeOut

another gig, another published photo

last night i went into the heart of the Sussex countryside to see 2 stars of the British blues rock scene. Ron Sayer and then Larry Miller. both have been awarded the accolade of being best British guitarist in the British blues awards, but their styles are totally different.

Ron Sayer is just great with his own style, energetic blues rock and soulful guitar solo's all mixed together to make a perfect performance.
Larry Miller on the other hand appears totally bonkers, jumping about the stage like a demented grasshopper, however, his playing is superb, especially when he used his 1931 steel body National resonator.
as you can imagine, getting good pics of him was a challenge, but i didnt do too badly given the lighting, speed of subject etc.

during the interval when we all had a fish and chip supper a local guy David Simmons played about 30 minutes of really soulful lap slide. what is more amazing is that he made his own lap slides and makes them for other people. he used to make skateboards so just turned the shape upside down to give a unique look to what is a very traditional instrument.

a brilliant night although my ears were still ringing at lunchtime today.
just a few pics to give you an idea.
