He’s still at nearly 70 yrs, ranked in the National top 15. Some would argue that there are a lot of recent foreign citizens on the Top 100 so he really shout rank in the top 10.

He played in his younger days against the likes of world champions. He won the match against Jasmine Ouchan

He played with a cue that was one of five made. Hawaiian Brian played with one of the others.

It has a new owner in your neighborhood

I played a few racks with an early '70s Tad about eight years ago. It had points . . .

. . . and a linen wrap, maple shaft, probably a Triangle tip. Recall it being a smooth, plush player. The owner was a USN diver who collected interesting objects including watches . . . [FF belongs to Bobby | photos: Dr No, 2010] . . . and a '70 ZL-1 Corv...

Frank Paradise and John Davis made George Balabushka's . . .

. . . blanks, to the best of my knowledge. John Davis, a toolmaker for Boeing in Kansas City, perfected the craft of fully spliced cues. I would trade my Flightmaster for one of his full-splices. And I'd trade my Flightmaster for one of Kersonbrock's cues...

Paradise and Davis's names came up in conversation with Bob . . .

. . . a few days ago. It's possible he confused Paradise with Szamboti; I recall hearing of Szamboti's involvement with Balabushka in the past, which I don't doubt at all. Bob has encyclopedic knowledge not only of cue-making but cue-makers as well. I'll ...

Never heard of Paradise or Davis making the forearms for Balabushka, but Burton Spain and G. Szamboti is known fact came after the Titlist blanks.

Also more than one person have said that the 1960s TADs with the Titlist resembling 4 points hit like a proper Balabushka as well as do the Tascarella cues, which must be identical in construction since he bought the tools and benches from the widow and X...

After researching the 'net, my sense is that Bob confused Paradise . . .

. . . for Szamboti. Paradise was Balabushka's rival, likely wouldn't have provided blanks to his competitor. Vintage cues are in a universe of their own. I've played once with a Tad similar to yours and vividly recall its smooth response. The Errol Flynn ...

How 'bout a duel between a cue-ball control specialist . . .

By: Dr No : January 13th, 2025-23:16
. . . and yours truly? Mel knows how to position the cue ball. Ran out, offered a consolation game. All credit for the come-back goes to the Denali cue. 🎱

I play a rotation version of 8 ball. Strips have to run from 15 down to 8, the solids have to run from 1 to 8 for the win. All shots called, no combo or banks, ball in hand after fouls, three fouls loose game, winner breaks, must drive a ball to a rail or...

Willie Mosconi didn't lose much as he aged . . .

. . . so it's not surprising Calvin's performing at a high level. Pool is one of few sports that doesn't necessarily favor the young. So long as memory and eyesight aren't compromised there's no reason an old guy can't rule the roost. Raymond Ceulemans wa...

I certainly have gone down hill I was in Arizona in 1990's and used to play 9-ball at the Golden 8 Ball in Phoenix on a 12 foot table (6x12 snooker). Now I need glasses and can barely see 7ft on a bar table hahahahaha. Love to do that again, table was so ...
