He’d sit back and move the pieces, and more often or not, he doesn’t have his name to anything. They are not the scary ones like Jaws or Mr Hinx, but rather the ones who have these scary lesser-villians on reign.
I think Ernst Blofeld fits that description very well. Auric Goldfinger, general Tan-Sun-Moon/Graves and Elliot Carver fit that bill nicely.
I found Alec Trevelyan (Goldeneye) and Raoul Silva (Skyfall) to be similar, in that they were revengeful former agents.
Reading about the character analysis of these Bond Villians make me engrossed. I’ve met a few real life bond-esque villians too. They aren’t scary and can actually be very nice to those they favour. The scary ones are those with nothing to lose .E.g. Mr Hinx
