The Dukes of Hazzard County

May 17, 2018,21:07 PM

I have to thank Amazon Prime for putting the first 7 seasons of the DukeS of Hazzard County back on the air.

If you didn't grow up in the US of A in the Seventies you may still have heard of Bo and Luke Duke, with their cousin Daisy and Uncle Jesse

(shown here) with General Lee, their Dodge Charger.

always up to no good and usually in the middle of a car chase or three

We watched the first two episodes tonight

Did I mention Daisy? In these episodes, she didn't appear in those trademark "short shortS" which came to be known as "Daisy Duke shorts"

Boss Hogg runs Hazzard County, with the assistance (not) of Roscoe P Coltrane, Sheriff.

Boss usually rides in this Cadillac, which is, unbelieveably, capable of an excellent sideways power slide

My guess is Roscoe is wearing a Pepsi bezel Seiko, but you guys might have better eyes than I do

Thank you Daisy, for distracting Enos, the deputy. I wonder who staged this shot?

Here's General Lee, starting the signature leap

and the very painful (ouch!) ending

in the video you can see the front end buckle in this shot. An average of 2 cars were ruined each show, for a total of about 300 Chargers consumed in the making of this series!

the happy ending with cabin, goats and General Lee

Perfect fare to accompany the Dukes - meat & potatoes.

You mean it wasn't filmed in the Parisian suburbs?

Je ne parle pas francais, but I think it would be hilarious to watch with French accents. Such amusing incongruity

It is! [nt]

I could still recite the whole thing! One of my favorites growing up, along with CHiPs. Throw in some Incredible Hulk and I could sit for hours on end!

The first show set the stage for them acting as “Robin Hood”

And of course Boss Hogg and others as “the rich” Uncle Jesse’s wisdom was “the Dukes only go after property to get even, never people” I’m sure there are other pearls of wisdom to be found in that crazy show. Cazalea

Definitely an important part of setting the stage for the show

...and enabling the audience to cheer for the lawless antagonists (which of course made them the protagonists).

Three hundred Chargers ruined for . . .

. . . a TV show?! One of two Bullitt Chargers survived ;-) . . .

Art, there are reportedly 20-25 still left that were used in the shows

and of course you can always make your own. The fact they used so many cuts down the "hoarding" factor. After all, no one has the "real" General Lee. Cheers

Richard Mille Ambassador Bubba Watson owns one from the show

Fine watches and fine cars... and a helluva golfer.

Fitting that a guy named Bubba . . .

. . . owns a General Lee!

My favorite series, along with the A Team!
