Slow and Easy Morning

Aug 10, 2022,17:03 PM

We walked the NE corner of Mission Bay today, trying to beat the heat and humidity. No Hot and Dusty Trail today, no prickly cactus or dangerous animals or steep hills. Just a calm walk along the shore.

I can see it's an excellent day to be ON the water as well as BY the water.  We've never tried this stand-up paddle-boarding stuff, mainly because you still have to get wet and there's the whole lower back stress issue.

Seated is more my style. I look at those guys and remember a few decades ago when I probably looked like that.

(Maybe it's time to get my kayaks dusted off and back on the water? It's just that I hate dripping sand and saltwater onto my new truck)

I'm afraid I would look like this guy on the water, with my belly hanging into the front of the boat.

No one on the ski beach or launch ramp yet. This is a very busy place on weekends.

Patterns in the hard sand as the tide is going out for two more hours (low tide 3:30 am). It's very uncomfortable walking on these surprisingly hard ridges, if barefoot or in thin shoes.

Wearing my Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chrono today. Amazingly, I've had this  for 20 years!  It's always worked without any issues, but a year ago I sent it back to Japan for service and a new power cell. It's happy to go today.

Jogging is not my style, although about 75% of the runners are women... my wife gives me a gentle whack on the side of the head and I turn to the right.

She says some of the women are faster than others...

This multi-tasking skater/dog walker/stroller dad might be WPS member InDebtButOnTime, except I don't think he has a baby or dog.
It looks easier on the body than running, except I always remember the time I fell on skates and broke my arm.

This fella is making his walk into a profitable enterprise (like golf - a walk in the park with occasional stops)

These guys are muscle-ing up at a park work-out station.

While this youthful running squad are stretching out and getting some motivational talk from their coach, although they don't seem too attentive - ah, "the youth of today"

Yes, a very nice morning. Maybe we will stick to carefully and deliberately placing one foot in front of the other, like this gull.

We have come to the campground, and have to turn around now. I guess it's back to the car and home to breakfast.

OR should we slip past the gate guard and get a closer look at this cool three-wheeler?

No, we'll just photograph this flower, and go home.

PS - our hummer fluffing himself
