I think that is a good approach...
... I always tend to compare to watches with such 'gadgets'. Our watches tell time, and this thing makes coffee; fine. But in essence, our love and fascination is only loosely connected to the 'main function'. This thing is very well engineered, it is a great design, looks good and you can 'connect' to a very small group of evenly enthusiastic people who went from prototyping into the cold water of low numbers production to create this 'thing'. These qualities and attitude is exactly what makes us go wild for independent watchmakers or high horology in general. Of course at the end of the day, you still have to be able to afford 'the object', whatever it may be, more or less worry-free.

He's a cool and very friendly guy, the inventor Will... we were both involved in an European research project on aero engines a couple of years ago. I am all in tea myself, but I love what he's doing

Since your post I’ve been reading reviews on some coffee/espresso forums and the consensus in terms of output / end product seems to be very good. The only complaints seem to be the price, as for a similar price point one can get something more complicate...
