The elegance of the Golden Ellipse is in my opinion unparalleled, it would be a terrific choice. Not a daily wear, of course, but versatile enough to wear on many occasions.

The only GE in the current collection is the relatively new ref. 5738, and it might not be too difficult to obtain from an AD, should you decide to go for it. One the two versions also carries the tiny diamond at 6 o'clock (since it has a P case), the other is in R gold.

Here's Patek's official description:

Cheers.

Pick a sport (Watch Pic Heavy)

 By: Cookies : July 26th, 2020-07:09
I've always wondered, what constitutes the traits of a modern man nowadays? Is sports part of the equation, and if so, what sports do WIS play? Here are some advertisements of luxury watches and sports. What sports do you do? Please share some pictures of...

I quickly edited it to include Golf

 By: Cookies : July 26th, 2020-07:26
How could I forget Golf. Honestly, it may be a subconscious thing. I always wanted to learn Golf from my father. Just moments before he died, I sent him a video on Phil Mickelson dancing in a funny commercial . He must have watched it and laughed, before ...

I am packing on pounds

 By: Cookies : July 26th, 2020-07:51
The lockdown caused much paralysis in my ability to burn off the calories. I enjoy food so much. These few days, I’ve been burning off the pounds by moderate activities such as skipping rope, kettlebells, and cautious swimming (at times when the pools are...

great way to keep in excellent shape

A real man must watch his calories and take care of his body, much like how a gentleman always shines his shoes and irons his clothes. The 292 is one of my favourite PAM pieces. Ceramic and stealthy. I remembered this was one of my dream watches many year...

If I had this PAM...

I'd be cheeky enough to bring it diving, on a distressed leather strap, and take a nice black and white picture wearing it. Very retro-cool! This 249 was a show-stopper, when it was released. The california dial is unmistakable and so unconventionally leg...

Yep, the dial represents Boccadasse, my favorite neighborhood in my hometown (Genova), where you can find me at least a few nights a week every summer (alas, except for this one ;-)

 By: FabR : July 26th, 2020-08:20
In part because of the location, in part for the incredible quality of the dial and the work involved (it's a mix of techniques, including enamel and miniature painting), this is of course my favorite Patek....Glad they decided to give me one ;-) Here's j...

If I bought a Patek..

It will be this vintage Neptune, or a Golden Ellipse (with the tiny diamond hidden at 6pm) worn on a mesh bracelet. I will start to dream about it now. Credit to Akiro1 on this forum for his picture: ...

I really want a Patek now. But not a nautilus or aquanaut..no, that will not do for me in this era. I like them but I cannot be caught dead wearing it because too many crass youth are mis-using/abusing the cred behind the piece. That golden ellipse will b...

The Rolex ads are unbeatable, for me. My favorite among those you posted: The Explorer.

There are some others which are worth an eye. Jackie Stewart, for example: ...

this ad will give me sweet dreams

the way Rolex writes their ads, and present the watches with stories...world-class! "Give me the right word and the right accent, and I can move the world' - Joseph Conrad

Many watch brands used a sports motif

A quick web search shows Omega and Corum associating with sailing. My sports changed over the years. Team sports dominated in my youth but once my career took over I had to find activities that didn't require groups of people. Running was a favorite as wa...

Longines need to up their game in advertisements and strategic placements. They’d need the level of Satchi and Satchi, or Olgivy to do their ad campaigns and to advice them if the ad and products are incongruent. Their products are wonderful (E.g.skin div...

Playing hockey: never a watch. Cycling and skiing sometimes a Suunto for fun, or a watch on a steel bracelet.

That’s me in the middle. Just for fun, too many ’complications' under the hood. ...

I must say..

Here's one of the sports I sometimes indulged in, mountaineering/trekking

The photos look straight out of a National Geographic magazine, and a Rolex on trekking is a great choice. Wow! I was just reading the July issue of Nat Geo, and it would have something you like: Did George Mallory reach the summit first? There are some f...

Thank you for the kind words, sir. I sure hope Mallory was the first and it gets proven. Nothing against Hillary, of course!
