Nearly there

Some of you may remember that 1 January this year I quit smoking after 40 years of non stop min a pack a day puffing away.

It’s now 2 November and have not touched a single sigaret this entire time. Not one, not even a puff.

It’s not been easy, at times difficult but with the strong support of a.o. this forum, I’ve managed to pull thru.

Just wanted to keep you up to speed and I’m pretty hopeful that January 1 2020 I can proudly say to have been one full year without smoking.

Thanks for all your encouraging messages and support

The way I see it is: choose your vices carefully, and enjoy them to the fullest! Quitting smoking means you can devote yourself more to collecting watches. The way to go! With deep respect, Daniel

A true addict can overcome any price level haha. It wasn’t the costs that made me stop but all of a sudden I realized I was going to turn 60 in 2019 And I just didn’t want to be a bad smelling grey skinned looking old guy or grandpa (not that I was grandd...

Well done!

I quit The 5th of July 2010 after 20 years of smoking about the same as you + cigars + pipe. I only have one regret and that is that I ever let myself get addicted to this pointless and destructive habit. In hindsight I would have missed NOTHING by not sm...

By 10 I was at a pack a day ... I grew up in the rough neighborhoods of Romania where at the time this was a norm . It was one of my best decisions ever ! Keep it up your over the hard part 👍

You should be very proud of yourself for your accomplishment. It’s not an easy thing to do.

Sadly, I have seen the negative impact that smoking/tobacco has had on the health of many patients. If only we can turn back the clock but that’s impossible. Stay well and continue. Tony

Quit drinking? Why on earth would anyone quit drinking? Only joking, personally we drink very little. Occasional pint after golf, glass of wine during weekend dinner or champagne when flying Emirates Airlines Many people across the world belief that you c...

Medical reason. Gout every so often . . .

. . . is a price I was willing to pay for years. When it became gout for days on end every time I popped a cold one . . . it just wasn't worth the cost. ;-)

I’ve been thinking about it how come still so many people are smoking. Old hats with 2 packs a day for 40 years may be lost cause (some exceptions like me) but how come this whole tobacco industry is still around. Politics was my conclusion. Smoking is he...

I guess from our generation smoking was something your parents did all the time and everywhere. I remember when we had a very small Vauxhall, my sister and I in the backseat, mom and dad upfront and puffing one after the other. It was misty but inside the...
