Hi MW,
I was at the Sepang Grand Prix back in 2006. We watched one session from under the big "umbrella" at the end of the backstraight. The bikes sounded just evil there...
I think MotoGP under Dorna is going to find itself in real trouble. The money has dried up, no one bringing in new bikes (remember the rubbish spoken about other marques joining when the 4-strokes came in? Where are they?), there's barely enough bikes on the grid to call it a championship.
The one tyre rule is terrible. It's the premier class of motorcycles, not a club race. Looking back to the rivalries of the late 80's/early 09's it was Dunlop/Michelin/Dunlops/Michelin...Now due to machinations of Ezpoleta and to a certain extent Rossi, Michelin (who definitely have had a couple of bad seasons) is out.
As for the riders. I never used to like Hayden, as he was there solely to support the US market. But he has his championship and his attitude is excellent. I have mechaniced a couple of times at national level and that's the attitude that you bust your gut to help. I hope he does well on the Ducati. Stoner is established as a constant championship contender now, and Rossi is impossible to write-off. If the Yamaha is a good against the 09 competitors as it was last year, I think another cup will be going to Tavullia.
