Ming, i've ridden most...
Ming,
i've ridden most of UK and lots of europe. i
thought Switzerland would be the best, but surprisingly it came 2nd best to
scotland. the reason being the snow run off making small rivers right across the
middle of a very tight 'S' bend. you dont get that in Scotland, but you get the
same very twisty mountain roads with not a soul to be seen. you also dont get,
in the highlands especially, the muddy tractor marks all over the road as its
mainly sheep farming. France is i'm afraid, a bit boring. Germany is bad with
too much traffic until you get to the Hartz mountains, but dry sunny mountain
tops dropping down into dark greasy forest is not a lot of fun, especially on a
very early GSXR750. i did manage to ride the Nurburgring( or as my friends say,
'most of it'. after a 1km straight coming over the crest to see a chicane with
damp track is a bit of a shock, going straight over the kerb and gravel trap
with the forks on the stops is not fun! even though i considered it the safest
option. getting back on the track alive is even more of a shock, a pleasant one
).
in UK the 2nd best area is Wales, where i live.
i'm not being biased as i rode it years ago before i moved and as you know i
would be foolish to ride again in my condition. the problem here is the mud from
tractors so the best bikes for this area and IMO the best bikes overall are
big trailies. on a road in UK you cant use the power of a sports bike so the
flexibility and torque of a big trailie is a much better
experience.
if i could still ride i would be looking at the
Duke trailie although the triumph tiger was always my favourite.
best
Graham
