Just came home from watching Dune.

When I was younger, I'd often recommend movies even to people whose taste I couldn't be sure of. What can I tell you, I was enthusiastic and in the process I got stung once or twice, as I should have. That being said, I'd recommend going to the movies and watching Dune to anybody even remotely interested in the genre of science fiction, anybody who loves movies really. If you happen not to like it, come see me and get your ticket money back.
I was so much looking forward to going to the movie theater again and feel more greatly rewarded now than hoped for even.
Cheers
Marc

...it seems like something that would justify a giant screen...

Oh, absolutely!

I loved the book, although I can't remember much of it now.

Atreides, is probably the only name I remember. Funny.

The first book was excellent…

The remainder of them less so, IMO. The prior movie was fun and visually spectacular for its time. I’ll probably wait to stream this one as all the really nice theaters around here seem to be closed. Kent

Ah, I only read Dune. Didn't go into the sequels.

I seem to also recall watching some snippets of an old movie starring Kyle Mclachlan.

Awesome! I'm very much looking forward to seeing this on the big screen

Totally different but the new marvel movie Shang-Chi was surprisingly good and a refreshing half step out of the traditional marvel franchise movie formula.

I like to see movies at home. I am not a typical movie watcher. But when i watch a movie, i prefer sf and comedy. Dune is good, but my favorite sf is The Thing directed by John Carpenter. I always a huge Star Trek follower.

I read the entire series of books

This brings back good memories. I remembered as a young boy, I used to get the books from a used book store and put my name on the wishlist for the sequales. It started when I played the Dune computer game which is a similar format to Command & Conquer wh...

It's great to see that quite a few of you

connect. As for me, neither did I read the books nor did I watch the earlier movie version even though I'm quite the David Lynch fan. I was merely hoping for an epic, un-Disneyfied/Marvelized, and anticipated a look&feel similar to Villeneuve's Blade Runn...

I temember going to see the 80’s release of it

The one with Sting in it. It was rather underwhelming. I am hoping this version will do the book justice.

I'll definitely watch that movie. Just need to find the right day with my friends

It's been a long time since I've been that hyped about a movie

You won't be disappointed

No no no

Boring as the book, too long when weak storytelling meets great cinematography it always ends up as a disappointment. Waste of time.

Well, every opinion is welcome

unless it's clearly wrong, like yours. (Just kidding. I know you're wrong in my opinion only.) Cheers Marc
