i was 16 in 1980 and had just joined the army. i was very much into Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, only the classic Gillan/blackmore lineup of course, Pink Floyd, Iron maiden and Genesis to name a few. i was also into current stuff. Phil Collins had just released Face Value, a year later Hazel O'Connor released Breaking Glass, a brilliant film and soundtrack. 'Will You' had one of the best Sax solo's since Baker Street.
get to the mid 80's and i saw Kajagoogoo in concert, yes i admit it.
there was a huge explosion of new music that few of us would listen to now, but there were still the fabulous supergroups around so it was an excellent and mixed time.
