with her style/message. It seems to me that poetry—like many of the sciences—has become so specialized! (I'm not speaking of Gluck, here.) Young poets regularly "break through" with a book that is essentially a wail about injustice of one sort or another. Political, for wont of a better word. Leaves me cold. I'm old fashioned, I suppose, and want celebration, want someone to encourage me to examine some fascinating thing further. Animal, vegetable, mineral—doesn't matter. But someone interested in craft (precious little of that, nowadays), as well as message.
In any case, I agree you shouldn't "worry." You're right, with a little digging you'll come up with something worthwhile. Warm regards! FH

Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder and to be followed-up by The Dream of Reason by Anthony Gottlieb. I made one list and that one's more than enough since it's the only one I can aspire for having the time to accomplish consuming . Cheers, Filip

What's the last book you enjoyed that was not about philosophy? Just asking? I read a lot of non-fiction, but enjoy the occasional toe in the water with a good mystery. Casey

it's been a while , but I did read Phil Collins' autobiography, Sir Michael Caine's autobiography and a few fictionalized novels by Steve Martin - The Pleasure of my Company, An Object of Beauty and Shopgirl. I would like to read Martin's non-fiction book...

and feel comfortable picking up a copy of "A Village Life". Thanks for the two sonnets. There can be similarities between poetry and photography... less so with prose with notable exceptions such as "Istanbul: Memories and the City" the largely melancholi...

I enjoy a good Kurt Wallander mystery and knew about the author's time in Mozambique... I have a bit of Swedish blood in me as both my maternal grandparents immigrated from Northern Sweden. Do you read Mankell in the original language? I always check the ...
