U2 + Simple Minds + almost every music they played (invented) in that era ... all the music (Punk, Rock, Gay, Skin, Pop, NewWave ... ) was amazing ! Most music nowadays is so simple ..... or ... are we getting older ??? Filip

Remember "The American"? I stillhave the original 12" The later albums were just amazing.

I remember seeing them in concert about 8 or 9 years ago in NY with Howard Jones and Culture Club. Their songs always give me a nostalgic feeling. Seems as though they have a new album and Euro tour underway.

Chrissie Hynde was once married to Jim Kerr (during the heyday). She still pulls off great music today. Great band, songs and songwriting. Haven't heard about new Simple Minds, but "Sparkle in the Rain" will be hard to top. This message has been edited by... 

YES, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Saga & of course Pink Floyd. And I actually still play these CD's a lot next to more modern jazz like Al Dimeola, Allan Holdsworth, King Crimson, John Patitucci and Marcus Miller. And at the moment plays Joe Zawinull's "Storie...  

Never realized that I first saw him in 1968 when he was in a band called "Soft Machine". Killer guitarist. Played on a lot great albums. The Bill Bruford album "One of a Kind" was a classic that should be required listening Many others, too.

I did the album artwork for Missing Persons "Spring Session M" as well as a lot of other "new wave" bands. Don't hold this against me.

I was pretty happy with leftover 70's music. Zep, ELO, Queen, The Who. I am still happy with all my 70's music.

I still pull out my 80s soundtracks and play them. There were so many great ones, and some of the singles from these albums really stand the test of time. A few of my favorite 80s movie soundtracks follow, along with my picks for best tracks in parenthese... 

Stuff like Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Kraftwerk.. Later, when I started playing bassguitar Mark King (Level 42) was my hero for a while. Regards Mark

and I am a bit older ;-), music is timeless and we all need to be able to discover it in a way that resonates. I discovered so much much after the fact, but that's what it took to really appreciate some music. I didn't care for Led Zep until much laterwhe... 

i know what you mean. i've been buying more 60's and 70's blues rock CD's now than i ever did when i was younger. there are a lot of anthologies out there which i think are the best way of buying historic music. you get the best in 6 CD's. a couple of cra...
