Haley Strategic Partners Disruptive Sciences (D5)

So, after a truly long period of time (just under ten and a half years), I decided to sign-up for an advanced firearm training course held by the eponymous founder from the thread's title.

The reason it took me so long to attend a formal class despite actively using firearms for over a decade by now, was because the timing simply wasn't favorable enough for me to devote three full (or more) days to going out of my way to obtain this type of education and accreditation. I began following the work of the owner and founder of this company (Travis Haley) back in 2011 when he was still with Magpul, running their Magpul Dynamics division and appearing in multiple firearm training DVDs, which were essentially the first type of firearm training content to gain a relatively large following in its software and web releases. They slowly began offering in-person training classes in 2012 but at that point it was only a day at a time.... Given that their team philosophy is to continually adapt and seek-out the very best forms of knowledge to qualitatively and tangibly contribute to their training methodology, the exact length of the courses and practice (both theoretical and practical) have been updated on a continuous basis ever since. At present, their standard handgun and carbine D5 courses run three days each, and include about 24 hours of practical training and an additional 10-11 hours of theoretical training.

The entire philosophy of the teaching method is to therefore imbue the field of sports/performance shooting with as much tangible and 'verifyable' science as is required to make the discipline move forward and maintain continuous momentum - just like any other sport nowadays.... The HSP team, based out of Phoenix, Arizona, hires a team of full-time medical and performance professionals to always remain at the leading-edge with their curriculums, and avoid any form of intellectual or practical inertia so prevalently found in large-scale institutions like the military, law-enforcement and so on. As you can see from the pictures of some of the slides provided below, every dimension of the physiological process one goes through while using a firearm is directly addressed. These learnings are then separated into several highly manageable exercise forms which mostly take place in the 3-25 yard/meter distance from the given target. They include both stationary and movement practice. Their unique targets provide at least 5 different exercise types in a single target, making them one of the most versatile on the market today. Most exercises are naturally based on different rhythmic arrangements which are not only easily memorable but highly effective. All of these exercises combined form what is, in my opinion, the most holistic and authentic approach to coaching people on firearms that is available today.

I thoroughly enjoyed every single day of the course, from the very intense 3-yard weapon manipulation and fine target acquisition, to the ~80 meter long-distance shot which I had never previously attempted with a handgun.... There is a decent variety of options in this space in the U.S., but I genuinely believe that this particular company provides the highest quality of training at this time. The cost for a 3-day course is $800 (plus of course your own firearm and ammunition), but when you realize that they spent a full 35 hours guiding us carefully through every single step over three long days, I find that to be a perfectly reasonable proposition. Not a single person of the 22 people attending had any discouraging remarks at the end of the course. I hope this mini-review helps you or someone you know make the decision to obtain training in this space, and if so do consider Haley Strategic Partners as your firearm training provider, they offer their course program in a decent number of states across the U.S. Thank you for taking the time to look and read through this review!! (and no, for the record, I am in no way, shape of form connected to, or compensated by HSP. I paid for my course in full out of my own pocket.) Cheers, Filip

If recent events tell us anything is that people often wait until it is too late to come into firearm possession and to train adequately and become proficient with their use.

Seeing that is what makes one wonder how irresponsible it is not to be prepared and well trained.... This course was a genuine pleasure, they constantly improve upon the classes that they offer, and I was told there are 4-5 day classes in the works for ne...

By the way, I finally ended up buying a 'donor' 1911 for whenever one of the full-custom masters end up having time to build me one. It's a Springfield Mil-Spec........

Nice!..the full custom 1911s take some time..

Out of the 22 people in class (even including the 3 Powers family members who organized the class), I was the only person with a 1911, thus Haley began referring to me as his '1911 guy' LoL. I just can't love a polymer firearm as much as a classic metal o...
