Following Brauner - what are some of the more exotic favorite destinations you have been to and which destinations are on your bucket list? 🌏

Brauner posted a nice world timer lately, a wonderful dream machine for the wrist, allowing us to virtually travel to faraway places on the dial. We started discussing some of those exciting locations but it really does require a fresh thread in my opinion - travel being a pastime dear to many of us.

Given that WPS has members from β€˜all over’ the definition of interesting, exotic or appealing of course differs.

So very curious what are some exciting places you have been to and what are some you still yearn to visit in the years to come - i.e. the bucket list destinations?

For me some of the more exotic travel destinations have been the remote parts of Russia, such as driving the β€˜Road of Bones’ from Magadan to Yakutsk, or crossing the more remote parts of European Russia, such as the Kalmyk desert, and the mountains of Chechnya and Dagestan (road trip reports for another day if there is enough interest). Lebanon might be seen as mildly exotic nowadays but wasn’t so previously.

As for the bucket list some of the more remote islands, such as St. Helena, Tristan da Cunha, the Falklands or the Spitzbergen are high on the list as is the African interior.

Driving the Panamericana (ideally with the Alaskan leg being done in winter) is another bucket list favorite as is a Nordkapp to Cape Town journey. The classical Mongol Rally might no longer run but parts of it would be cool and as discussed with Salman a trip up the Hunza valley is definitely something to be attempted soon, or a drive from Buenos Aires to the Tierra del Fuego (should I be able to persuade Abel to join, all the better 😁🀞🏻).

So what are yours?
