I've often wondered. Why aren't the screws on a good watch aligned as they are on a good shotgun?

Economics. It can be done, but would require extensive hand fitting to achieve the desired result.

Hodinkee had an article discussing this matter. Search the Practical Machinist website for more info. -John

Thank you very much. Unfortunately, however, both Hodinkee and Practical Machinist links go back to this page.

Strange. Go to Hodinkee. Type "screw slots" in their search bar. It should pull up Jack Forster's article.

Go to Practical Machinist. Go to Search. Search entire site. Enter "Screw Head Alignment". The first thread after the ads is one thread I was referencing. There is a link in the Hodinkee article, too.

Thatโs just beautiful. Please share more information and photos. Is it a side by side? Bore?

It's a 12-bore Beretta SO5 over-and-under 'Sporter' with a 'true' sidelock action (not only side plates). I have the 'Trap' version. About GBP27k in the UK. Pictures at berettagallery.com/premium-guns/so5

Another example, I was recently looking at the custom 1911 below, notice the blued screws are aligned with the slide serrations.

One of my favourite pistols. I taught my daughter to handle one properly when she was 10 years old. She liked it, too.

Nice 1911.

A lot of people dislike the 1911 since it is single action. I'd take one any day over one of the "plastic" guns".
