La Maja just so happens to have inspired another piece of music hugely important to the guitar repertoire. La Maja de Goya was written by Enrique Granados, who was a huge fan of Goya's work. It was originally written for voice and piano, but the guitar arrangement has probably eclipsed the original in popularity.

Works for solo guitar like this one are quite unknown relative to much of the rest of classical music, so it is very gratifying to share it with others.

Nothing more appropriate!

I play a bowed string instrument, but don't know much about the plucked repertoire. Thanks for broadening my (and the rest of the forum's) experience.

Fantastic post! I learned about this piece in my art history course!
