There were indeed 8 master craftsmen who were entitled by MB to work on the Medici, their first LE. A very fine and special piece for sure. Did you also notice that the vent/breather hole of the nib on the Medici is heart-shaped instead of the usual round... 

He trained 7 other craftsmen to achieve those 4810 pens (plus 8 in gold). All golden ones were made by him and also some of the silver ones.

They searched for one person to do the job and he then trained the others to his skills. Depending on the amount of pens this is applied from time to time. Although nowadays only the really limited pens receive this kind of engraving by hand.

On the other hand, Montblanc just used a standard 149 nib for the Hemingway. I kind of believe that Montblanc didn't really want to invest too much in modifying tools and take extra miles to make their very first two limited editions. Maybe they would lik...

But probably the 5070 is the only one that I regret… even if for sure I never had any regrets for sacrificing all these for my 3448 😍
