I hadn't thought about until you posted this but with covid and lack of business travel, I am definitely not getting my money's worth. Services were getting worse and annual fees going up before covid but now it doesn't make sense, I may downgrade...

Luxury Credit Cards

 By: myles721 : September 29th, 2022-01:00
I know…a bit off topic. This is however a serious question (and issue for both myself and my wife) that I could use some help with. Don’t worry dear moderator…I shan’t name names. I have a premium credit card that never ceases to let me down. All of the t...

Timely discussion.

My latest “fancy, metallic card” statement indicates a yearly fee which is considerably higher than that charged last year. And for what!? I may pay up for another year because it’s convenient, and to be fair I use their travel services and like the fact ...

The last time I called travel services….

My “service” rep asked me to speak louder (this is absolutely true) because her ROOSTER was crowing in the background. I wonder what card her rooster has 🧐🤯

Good effing grief.

Nothing like competing with the IRS or your local DMV for customer service excellence, eh? And you did say “rooster”..? The current administration might have given a “fancy metallic” card to said rooster and graciously offered our tax dollars to pay the b...

ROFL!

In the day, I thought (or was brainwashed to believe by eye-catching advertsl) that I would benefit by paying for the "premium card", and that was a just only a "green" one.

 By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : September 29th, 2022-12:14
Then I questioned, "Why am I paying for THIS green card? When my free cards that serve the same purpose for my lifestyle don't cost me anything?" The answer didn't involve my researching rocket science to answer. And on top of that, very few stores, resta...

I am fortunate with my card

as the service has been exemplary. When I got married in June, they even sent me a large box of luxury chocolates which I am still enjoying. I do use their hotel reservation service which allows me to check in at 8am and check out at 6pm in addition to th...

need to estimate the value of the card services you use. For a new card sign up point bonuses can be huge, and earning points with bonus categories like grocery & gas, plus regular purchases can add up (especially with business expenses running throug...

Thanks Steve…

If the lounges were really “usable” (always an excuse and absurd limitations) it would be more of a calculus. Having said that I do really use the points…but I get more or less the same points from a basic card than from one that I pay an exorbitant fee. ...

All good points. Thanks.

The benefits are good when they are available...

Sadly in the UK, they oversubscribed and demand outweighs the supply and cause frustration.. When I was invited to join upon the launch of the card back in the day, it was truly exquisite. Got myriad of invitations through the year for cool events and rec...

Thanks for your input…that has been exactly my experience…

Realizing I don’t do enough air travel so when there’s an issue its more upsetting. Thinking about a bespoke non card concierge service…I’m in the Hamptons, NYC, Martha’s Vineyard, Miami and the Rockies so maybe that would be fine for the very occasional ...

my card allows me to buy singapore airline miles at a rate that makes the first & business class tickets cheaper...

 By: terbaboom : September 29th, 2022-11:28
...and the miles earn rate is higher than most cards on the local market. this airline miles feature is most useful for me and I'm very happy with it ✈️ the annual fee is not cheap though and I'm "embarrassed" when my friends ask me about it 😅

Travelling in premium cabins, especially first class, can solve lounge concerns with access to more exclusive lounges that typical card holders are unable to enter.

 By: Steve E : September 29th, 2022-23:42
The airline ticket is providing the lounge access. But the credit card is providing the airline ticket via miles/points. But, you don't really need a premium card to do this...

When I was a kid there was so much status (deservedly so)

 By: myles721 : September 29th, 2022-15:29
Attached to these cards but ubiquity and false promotion have made them pedestrian and kind of (dare I say it) a ripoff. Parting with premium cards are emotional but over ten years I could easily purchase a Rolex for the savings in fees….or hire a concier...

I have both Amex and Mastercard…bot have somewhat worthless concierge

 By: myles721 : September 29th, 2022-23:39
service attached. I am going to add a green and cancel all of my premium cards. I get it for frequent world travelers…it’s a life line. I just don’t travel enough anymore. most of what I like about Amex I can get from the “Kermit “card😆😂🤣- the Rooster sen...

Personally find premium cards a waste of time and money

 By: watch-guy.com : September 29th, 2022-23:55
And now with he value of points dropping faster than a rooster with a stone tied to its foot, there is even less value in paying for premium Julian

I have a white titanium card

which syncs with my phone, if you know what I mean. It might have some benefits for a few people, but the problem is in 2 years I've had about 10 fraud attempts on the account. Two were approved for a flight and a Air BNB stay. That took over 4 months to ...

Yeah…it ventures out to even scarier territory..

Had two identity thefts which has completely messed up my life this year. Compared to this I’d take a watch theft any day of the week. 🙄😫
