Here’s the reason I bought a Wilier….
The amazing Marco Pantani, taken from us all too soon. Picture is from TDF 1997 as Pantani sets the all-time ascent record for l’Alpe d’Huez on his Wilier. His time of 37 mins 35 seconds still stands today as the fastest ever climb of the mountain during the tour.
In my opinion, only Eddy Merckx was blessed with more natural talent for cycling.

I lived for many years in Fairfax County, VA then I moved out to Loudon County, VA and then I moved right back into the District (Chevy Chase, MD). Like you, I had a Wilier road bike that whole time that I absolutely loved. Like you, I had a Shimano group...
That is interesting—not many Wiliers on the road here. I bought mine at the Green Lizard bike shop in Herndon. It is a great shop.
Wilier is getting a lot of recognition on the grand tours.
