According to Professor Chapman the source of the claim that A Touch of Brimstone was banned from the US was Brian Clemens, who was involved in writing the Avengers.

There’s a 1990s tv documentary on British tv and the claim is made therein. I have no idea how to research this further. I can only say I saw it when I was a yout.
