I do like some of Cucinelli’s sportswear and spring leather jackets. More cool factor and properly priced.

I like nice things as much

or more than the next guy. Watches, clothes, houses etc. However I could never justify spending multi-thousands of dollars on a coat. Yes, they are exceptionally nice, made in Italy and of cashmere, but do they justify the price?? Not to me they don't. I ...

Agree

Ahh, very nice clothes indeed.

Comparable prices to Cucinelli too. $$$$$$$$$$

Their clothes are worth every penny.

They just have the best quality materials and workmanship. It’s similar to quality handmade shoes, they might be more expensive in the beginning but over time the quality pays off. It also depends on the materials used, baby cashmere is more expensive tha...

A few reasons why

By: COUNT DE MONET : December 30th, 2020-11:45
1.) Made in Europe or France and Italy in particular costs, a lot! 2.) Brunello has created an ethik behind its clothing. I did not dwell into details of it but I can imagine that it will speak to a certain clientel. 3.) Materials are mostly better. 4.) T...

How much for one sock?

Maybe I could wear it on my favorite foot.

Which foot?

Maybe we could go in together!

I cannot afford it, so my opinion doesn't really count

But if you think about it objectively, it's not very different to what we "accept" with watches...

+1, good point ;-)

Cucinelli has gone nuts with their pricing ....

 By: emcquillan : December 30th, 2020-14:08
For that money you’re at Kiton made to measure pricing so it is silly. PS - You can buy direct end of season online for a lot less now direct from Brunello Cucinelli.

Yes ,I agree. Sometimes I think they, or anyone else

 By: Thomas_3 : December 30th, 2020-14:32
does it simply because they can. I know there is overhead and various expenses, plus you are in it to make a profit but something seems a bit outrageous here. I have a cashmere sport coat that was $1000, it is not nearly as nice as Piana or Cucinelli, but...

Quality costs, in clothing exactly like in anything else, I think it's as simple as that... The important thing is knowing what you buy, or else you'll certainly pay "too much" relative to quality (again, this is life, not just clothing ;-)

 By: FabR : December 30th, 2020-15:01
Provided you have the means, I really don't see a problem with a "costly", high-quality coat from a brand or tailor you already trust. To be always honest, I'd have much more of a problem to wear something that feels poor quality when I wear it or touch i...

I worked in a high quality men's store when I was younger

for quite a while, a couple of them actually. Top quality will certainly spoil you, that's for sure.

ALL RELATIVE--NICE IS NICE

Try Kiton. They're cheaper and in my opinion better than Cucinelli...

Try Kiton and Isaia, much cheaper than Cucinelli. Even Loro Piana is much less than Cucinelli!

Yes, Kiton is nice. I don't get it,

 By: Thomas_3 : December 31st, 2020-12:15
maybe I've been home too long and am losing my mind, but are there really that many people running out to buy (Cucinelli) $11,000+ coats and $1400 t shirts, not to mention $4000 dresses, $600 single cigar case??? I guess I have just been poor way too long...

In reality...

In all honesty, these items do not sell in large quantities. For instance, even a single smaller jewelry store will sell over a hundred Rolexes a year; and a larger jewelry store in a large city can sell a thousand Rolex watches a year (some stores sell e...

I saw recently that Cucinelli gave away millions $$$

 By: Thomas_3 : January 1st, 2021-11:05
of unsold product after the pandemic started, for that I applaud him.

While definitely worthy of applause, these donations are SOMETIMES more accounting exercises than charitable exercises...

 By: patrick_y : January 2nd, 2021-20:20
Depending on how they write off the donation (and they're probably donating clothing they couldn't sell for years), they can often deduct more of the item than their cost. While they can't deduct the full retail value, they can proportion production costs...

Completely agree.
