TimeOut

This was an epic evening, when 3 hummingbirds, including "my boy" appear and stick right around me for more than a half-hour. Please forgive the amateur videography. I was standing on a chair poking my camera into the tree as the wind whipped the branches...

Much as the older one is trying to get him to fly, he seems to not know where to go. Perhaps it is just a matter of a little time to make those connections (neural) to register the local map, so navigation is easier and, by the looks of that owl, safer. V... 

In English we would say they are establishing “The pecking order.” Hummingbirds are very territorial, and fight each other over the space where they seek flowers and bugs. I think this red tinted bird does not like the young one in this tree and is trying...  

The photos are excellent, especially the one of the feather-ruffled hawk and the hummer barely hanging on in the same tree. Look forward to a follow-through on the story.

I apologize for the slightly out of focus shots; it's very difficult to get the camera to auto-focus shooting through 10 feet of branches. And my manually-focusing eyes aren't too sharp either! ...  

I especially enjoyed the owl. He’s so dialed-in to his surroundings. His eyes seem to he’s asking, “WHOOOO goes there??”
