Great man. Came from a generation that "just got on with it". As he often said "you make do". He wasn't the soft type to run away to Hollywood and moan. Did his duty.
He lived the Gordonstoun motto "Plus etes en vous"

Prince Philip was a patriotic no-nonsense guy . . .
. . . and I fear we'll never see his likes again. It's not just a matter of having sympathy for his family at this time . . . it's a sense of sadness that the world we grew up in is changing, and not for the better. Art
