I have never seen hands stacked in such a poor manner - they seem to take up 2cm in height at the center ...

For one thing, at least, that stacking alleviates any worry about the hands colliding!
I haven't seen this one in person, so not sure if it looks awkward, untidy, shoddy, or good. A nice looking watch, though.
