Two years ago, I bought my wife a Mondaine watch. She won't wear anything costly, so she was very happy with it: clear and playful. After two months, the battery needed replacing, so it seemed, but when I sent it to the head office, it took approximately 4 months before they finally returned it. The excuse was that they were in lockdown. Early this year, the watch hands were suddenly misaligned, so since it was still under warranty, I sent it back again. After a month, the watchmaker applied too much pressure on the glass, broke it, and then told me, that I did not need to worry because it was she who broke it: I would not be charged for a new glass! Even better: the new glass, I was told a few weeks later, had arrived at Sydney Airport, and it was sitting there waiting to be delivered to the watchmaker. That was months ago. I complained to the company two weeks ago saying that I could not really imagine a designated watchmaker breaking a glass and suggested that a replacement watch was by now in order, seeing it has now been with them for almost a year in total, at which point they responded that I did not need worry, because, again, I really would not have to pay for the glass.
