Vintage Breitling " Soccer " or " Referee " Chronograph Ref 34. A curious bird.

Here is what I could see some weeks ago. A Football Referee Chronograph, made in the early 70's, by Heuer, for the Football Referees.

When you see  the dial and this porthole at 6 o clock, indicating if the Chronograph is running, or not, you immediately have the Superocean 2005 in mind. Ad it seems it shares the same movement, by the way, the Venus 188, if my memory serves me well.

Here, the big central hand is the minute chronograph, which will time  half times of 45 minutes.

You had two versions, the 34 I took in picture, and a slightly different reference, the 34-31, with an internal bezel.

The Cushion Shaped case is around 41 mm big, 13 mm thick.

Here it is:

As you can see, it is in New Old Stock Condition, with its immaculate case. The only thing which is missing is the lume on the Central Minute Chronograph.

When you fall on a mint or new old stock piece, you often see the seal covering the case back, like here, partially.

It is always thrilling to fall on some time capsules like this one. Can you imagine this watch is 46, 47 years old?

It is the very first time I see one in the reality.

And when you do a search on the net, there are very few of them. So my guess is that you are in front of a very rare bird, here.

Best,

Nicolas
