What does “Exclusive” really means nowadays

Excluding or not admitting other things."an exclusive focus on success and making money" …. … Making money for the manufacturer !
It feels like I got scammed
Like a love scam. Girl comes and gets married to guy, telling him she has no marriage history, and later, he finds oit she was lying. She was once married in another country!
Yes spot on
That story came to mind. She invited him to fall in love with her, and did not share the skeletons in the closet with him. He should have gotten a private investigator to check on her, but love is blind, and to do so defeats trust in a relationship. How c...
A new year, and a new release of 'limited', 'special' or 'exclusive' watches. It's getting sad and stale to be honest. Seen it all.
I learnt the hard lesson
Nico you have summarized it very well. Their words have become mere puffs, like in a tv telephone sales commercial.
“I just feel informed” well said..
I think most of us are past these tricks. If it’s a good watch, at a good price with decent after sales service, I’ll consider it. I’m easy
I will learn
Part of the journey Nico. From now, no more stupidity on my part to believe the lies of these unscrupulous companies. Caveat emptor.
I disagree a little
Exclusivity is almost dead when it comes to value preservation. But as an overall concept it is very alive in these days when so many people are looking to be different within their "ordinary lives" - at least they believe that the have ordinary lives whe...
I will learn from this sub 10k lesson from now. No more trust. It’s like buying a sneaker which is supposed to be more special and the next day, every tom dick and harry also has it.
Everyone would feel cheated
Country specific or Boutique only editions merely serve to create a false aura of exclusivity or limitation and these get over-done gradually. Collectors have every reason to feel let down by these short sighted actions. Sadly; as long as one set of specu...
I feel they cheated me
I bought the autumn edition thinking it will be special, being a country exclusive, and now this do this lowdown despicable unethical thing.
They did a trunk show here and left behind the US edition in the boutique in Sydney, where I thought it was an oddity and a goof opportunity to get something uncommon, so I bought it.
Yes, there are seldom any exclusives anymore
I hope to never be fooled by this “Exclusive” terminology anymore, unless it is truly a 50 piece limited edition. Even now, I’m worried about limited editions. What if they released a similar looking watch, with a slight tweak?
You don't have to worry, they definitely will!
It's funny but if the limited edition is successful, then it's likely there will be future similar releases stepping on it's toes but if the limited edition is a bust then it will be truly limited. 😉
My EXCLUSIVE Answer! Must See!!!
As a self-important extreme enthusiast of ___insert topic here_____ whose words should be assumed to be of higher importance than a lesser worded post, my exclusive reply holds far more weight than any other reply to this thread. You heard it here, exclus...
Yes indeed it is
The customer is not dumb. They seem to think we customers are dumb and loyal to the end, even when they can turn their backs on us. Reminds me of the Can of Worms Panerai too, which Perezscope highlighted.
The advantage of being a Purist...
is that you start avoiding these (un)limited editions and look for real character in vintage pieces, or real limited editions from independents
I must change my ways
No more buying Grand Seiko or trust in their words that pieces are Country Exclusives. Actually to come think of it, I was silly to believe it was “exclusive” because these pieces could be bought online and shipped, even in the earlier days of their relea...
Imagine Omega releases those
Those country exclusive seamasters (Moscow edition, Singapore edition etc) only available at boutiques in that selected country, to the whole world. They will never do this I am sure. Because reputation is important to them. But GS doesn’t honour their wo...
OK, I have to put a Moderator's viewpoint on exclusive GS models
As so many have noted, this problem is not EXCLUSIVE to Grand Seiko. Nor is it exclusive to the watch industry ... there are plenty of other marketeers doing the same thing. But in many ways I think this exemplifies the very great difference in thinking b...
Well said Cazelea
They make nice watches. They perfected the dial and case and hands. I have great things to say about the watch itself and the hands who made it.
Take it with a pinch of salt. They’re gonna flood other markets with these too
Hi I get your frustration at how the game was changed. The flip side is the frustration of not being able to get a limited edition or region specific watch. I think this has been a long time coming & there have to a certain extent been ways around it - es...
Sorry, but I find your point completely exaggerated.
If GS has sold a series of models „exclusively in the US“ this has nothing to do with „limited“. The US is a very big market and hundreds or thousands of these watches were sold without limitation. Considering this, it is nothing bad if such models can no...
Sorry I disagree with u too
Exclusive mean exclusive. They did not say this is a limited series. They marketed it as a US exclusive and this is a unique selling point.
