The pleasure of wearing a vintage seiko diver
Apr 17, 2018,08:19 AM
Ref. 6105-8110. A big chunk of steel. I love it’s vintage look, pristine dial and tool character. The case is different, with a grind like hit on one side. But it adds to the character of the watch.
Being a Seiko lover, I’ve just realized I’ve never posted anything at the Seiko forum, so let’s make it right.
Other detail that I love of this watch is de domed mineral crystal, that under certain lighting seems to be floating or to have a halo.
So here I am sharing one of my favorite watches as a first seiko post.
Have a happy Tuesday!
René

Yes! It looks tasty 😋 Cheers! René
Hi Bill, you sure use your diving watches as intended!

They feel indestructible! I don’t know why but this watch makes me think of Godzilla. Maybe the square hour markers “a la” snowflake look like the spines a the back, or maybe it’s Japanese provenance, I don’t know. Haven’t you found it there? Dive safely!...
Hello John

I had a seiko age calculator, which I lost. I kind of remember early 70’s Can you appoint me towards how to know it more precisely? Cheers! René
Hello again John

The first two numbers of the Serial are 52, so the watch could have been made in February 75, only 10 months younger than me! Best. René
Thanks Jay!

Yes! It is Bill’s 6105! This watch have a strong following among Seiko lovers. I’ve also read somewhere else that surely seiko will make a reissue of the Cap. Willard after the 62MAS reissue. It would be interesting to see a modern version. But as a vinta...
A reissue, wow.

I have had an opportunity to see this 6105 a few times but have passed as it's really too big for my wrist. That said I keep coming back to it. I picked up a 6105-8000 a few years back and that works far better on my wrist.
I got you

I have thin and bony wrists (6.5-7”) and I wear this watch without problem which is 44mm across, but the case sides have a nice curve that embraces your wrist. Of course, never with dress shirt and cuffs. I also have no problem wearing my 44mm luminor mar...
Very nice one!

From the pure aesthetic point of view it looks pretty nice and original. Only the bezel insert lume pip seems to have been relumed, but that’s a minor glitch. You always can get another insert. The strap would probably be a modern reproduction (WJean) but...
